TECHNOLOGY

Low latency takes
the entire pipeline.

Look inside every stage from capture to presentation, and design around devices, networks and the application experience.

01 / 05

Start at the camera and microphone: frame rate, drivers and capture buffers all matter.

  1. Capture

Start at the camera and microphone: frame rate, drivers and capture buffers all matter.

  2. Encode

Balance image quality, compression and encoding time for the actual hardware.

  3. Transport

Evaluate congestion, jitter, loss and buffering around the network conditions.

  4. Decode

Account for receiving-device compute, decode scheduling and media synchronization.

  5. Display

Include rendering, refresh rate and playback queues in end-to-end measurement.

One experience. Multiple constraints.

Speed is not an isolated metric. Image quality, continuity, resource use and system complexity matter together.

01

Devices & media

Establish the real limits of each endpoint, from capture and encoding to display refresh.

02

Network & recovery

Discuss buffering, transport and reconnection based on paths, jitter and packet loss.

03

Integration & deployment

Assess client, server and edge responsibilities within the existing architecture.

CLEAR MEASUREMENTS

Be precise about “latency”.

See our validation approach

End-to-end media latency

The time from an agreed source capture event to actual playback or display. Audio and video need separate definitions.

Network RTT

Network round-trip time describes a connection; it is not the same as visible video delay.

AI first-response time

The time from the end of user input to the first perceptible audio or visual response, including processing such as inference and synthesis.

Control-feedback time

The time from issuing a command to an agreed action or feedback event. Measure it independently of the video path.

A FEW ANSWERS

Questions, answered

Is there one performance promise for every deployment?

No single number describes unknown devices, networks and methods. Our R&D goal is the world’s lowest end-to-end media latency; project targets are agreed before testing.

Which platforms and deployment models are supported?

Share target operating systems, processors, media interfaces and deployment constraints. Platform support, SDK form and cloud or on-premise deployment are confirmed during technical discovery.

Break latency into observable stages.

This is a calculation model, not a measured product result or performance promise. Measure stages with agreed tools and check overlap, buffering and timestamp boundaries.

ILLUSTRATIVE LATENCY BUDGET

Capture T₁ + Encode T₂ + Transport T₃ + Decode T₄ + Display T₅ = End-to-end budget T

For example, shorter transport does not automatically speed up speech recognition, model inference or speech synthesis. Define separate timing boundaries for digital human responses and control feedback.
